Safety & Legitimacy

Yes — and the credentials are publicly verifiable. Kmedtest's partner hospitals hold Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, the same independent standard used to evaluate hospitals in the United States and Canada. Hanshin Medipia, our primary partner, performs over 100,000 executive-level screenings annually.

Kmedtest itself is registered as a medical tourism facilitator under the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI), a government body. Safety in healthcare comes from institutional accountability, not proximity. These hospitals have both.

Yes. Medical travel is legal and straightforward for both Canadians and Americans. You book flights, book a package, and arrive. Kmedtest handles everything on the Korean side — hospital booking, scheduling, English-language coordination, and same-day results.

You do not need a referral. You do not need travel insurance specific to this (though we always recommend comprehensive travel coverage). Your results are provided in English and formatted for sharing with your home physician.

Korea's national health system consistently ranks among the most efficient in the world for outcomes per dollar spent, confirmed by Bloomberg Health Index rankings across multiple years. The infrastructure for executive health screening was built at scale — Hanshin Medipia alone performs over 100,000 screenings per year.

That volume means the process is fast, coordinated, and reliable in a way that boutique medical tourism in other countries often is not. The technology is current-generation. The accreditation is international. And the cost structure is fundamentally different from North America's — not because corners are cut, but because the system is built differently.

Packages & Pricing

Kmedtest's Basic package starts at $600 USD per person and includes 103 tests across all major body systems — blood, urine, imaging, ultrasound, EKG, ophthalmology, and gastroscopy. For context: a comparable whole-body imaging scan in North America runs $2,499 — one scan, one modality, no concierge, no translation.

The Kmedtest Signature package, which adds Brain MRI, cardiac CT, and echocardiography, starts at $1,700 USD. All prices are fixed. No surprise fees. Concierge and translation are included in every package.

The Basic package (103 tests) covers: full blood panel (liver, cardiac, kidney, thyroid, diabetes, anemia, hepatitis, and tumour markers), complete urine analysis, chest X-ray, abdominal ultrasound, thyroid ultrasound, EKG, bone density scan, audiometry, ophthalmology assessment, and gastroscopy (sedated or non-sedated, your choice).

The Signature package adds advanced brain and cardiac imaging, and echocardiography. The Premium tier adds PET-CT and advanced neurological and musculoskeletal imaging. All packages include your English concierge, physician summary, and same-day results.

In most cases, no — private health checkup programs of this type are not covered by provincial health plans in Canada or standard US insurance plans. However, many guests use Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) in the US to cover part of the cost. Some Canadian extended benefit plans may cover portions of specific tests when accompanied by physician documentation.

We recommend checking directly with your provider. The out-of-pocket cost of a Kmedtest Basic package ($990 USD) compares favourably to uninsured executive health programs in the US, which typically range from $3,000 to $15,000.

The Checkup

Most checkups are complete before 1pm. You arrive at the hospital between 7:30 and 8:30am — your Kmedtest coordinator meets you in the lobby and guides you through registration and each testing station. The examination itself typically takes four to five hours depending on your package.

Results are reviewed with a physician the same afternoon before you leave the facility. You do not need to stay in Seoul for follow-up unless a result requires specialist consultation — in which case Kmedtest can facilitate a referral to Seoul National University Hospital or Asan Medical Center.

No. Your bilingual concierge handles all communication with hospital staff throughout the morning. Registration forms, physician instructions, and results are all translated into English. Korean is never a barrier — that's a core part of what Kmedtest provides in every package.

Results & Follow-Up

Same-day results are standard. Before you leave the facility, a physician reviews your results with you in English. You receive a digital copy of the full results package, an English-language physician summary, and a formatted report suitable for sharing with your home doctor.

If follow-up is needed, Kmedtest provides a referral letter in English. Results are also stored and accessible digitally so your home GP can review them without waiting for physical documents.

If a result requires follow-up, you have three options. First, your home physician reviews the results — Kmedtest provides a physician-ready English summary formatted for GP review. Second, if you are still in Seoul, Kmedtest can arrange a same-day or next-day specialist consultation at our referral partners: Seoul National University Hospital and Gangnam Severance Hospital, both JCI accredited.

Third, for complex cases, we can coordinate a referral to Samsung Medical Center or Asan Medical Center. The results are yours. You decide what happens next.
